Creating Lifelong Friendships
Welcome to the Episcopal Youth Camp! Join us for a week at Camp Newaygo to build a deeper relationship with each other and with God in a loving and inclusive community where all are welcome and all are valued for their strengths and gifts.
We strive to create a Christian community where everyone can learn and grow physically, mentally, and spiritually in a safe and nurturing environment.
We run a week-long camp for grades entering 3rd - 12th. Campers are split into three groups based on grades (3rd-6th grades, 7th-9th grades, and 10th-12th grades). Most programming will be run separately within these three groups. All sleeping quarters and shower schedules will be separated based on grade groups. Meals will be eaten together but campers will sit with their grade groups.
Our staff is made up adult volunteers. Volunteers attend the misconduct prevention workshop, Safeguarding God’s Children, & have had criminal background checks.
Volunteers are chosen by an application process using interviews and references. Each volunteer counselor is trained in counselor procedures.
Camp volunteers will be staffed by people age 18 and older. Our medical officers are licensed nurses, doctors, EMTs or first-responders.

Licensed CAMP
We are inspected and licensed by the State of Michigan and will uphold their policies. The inspector checks almost 100 items, including our health center, staff training, and behavior management policy. He also interviews staff members, our health supervisor (Camp Nurse), Camp Director, and even a camper (to see if we're following our own rules and make sure the kids are having fun!).
Our updated licenses can be viewed here: http://w1.lara.state.mi.us/CampSearch. To search, type in "Episcopal Youth Camp" and the county (Newaygo for Camp Newaygo).
WHITTEMORE FOUNDATION
For many years we've received financial support from the Bishop Whittemore Foundation in the Episcopal Diocese of Western Michigan. We are grateful for them - not only for the money that helps campers attend, but also for their prayers and encouragement.
